Maurice was eating up the attention. Clearly being a housecat agreed with the former stray, though he did worry about his new human who had moments of being too sad for even a purring cat to solve. The priest who smelled like sugar though, seemed to make it better, so he was clearly welcome.
Liam shook his head. "You looked like you swam here. I couldn't have you shivering yourself into an early grave in my apartment." And focusing on Riley and fretting over the soggy blond had pulled him out of the worst of the disassociation he'd slipped into after Gregory's visit.
"Sorry you came all the way here through that. I don't know how that message sent. Maurice headbutted my phone. He must've nosed the screen I guess." If he acted like it was just a silly thing, maybe it would be. Maybe Riley wouldn't see him as broken and damaged as he was.
