Liam was an animal person since a very young age. He'd made friends with the crows in the neighborhood as a boy. ...and now as well, actually. And several pigeons and chipmunks and a opossum. He was on the verge of being a Disney Princess sometimes.
And now he had Maurice, a prince among cats.
Liam reached out to stroke his hand down the cat's back, quite deliberately catching Riley's and twining their fingers together. Maybe he needed the strength of that connection for asking what he did next.
"Why did you come?"
Liam couldn't quite figure it out, because it couldn't be as simple as Riley just caring about him. Could it?
