It was truth that Alec was not as restless as Seregil was; their little place on Half Moon Street was well lived in, though the treads in the carpet were not from Alec, not even remotely. Alec could be content to just sit in a wing chair and read, in dreaming-- in moving through books and ideas all of the ways that the world had not opened up for him before his first meeting with Seregil.

Though he did miss Seregil's presence, the chaos in the other side of the room; in all of his soliloquys and ramblings, his plotting and scheming.

The rain pattered outside, and Ruetha had found a good thing in his calmness. Her goal of comfort was to spend days in Alec's lap, and then cuddle in with Seregil at night and he supposed, as he scritched just behind her ears, that it must be a very sweet deal indeed. Thankfully she allowed him just enough time to turn the page before he returned back to his ministrations.

A lock of blonde hair fell in his eyes, those blue eyes that managed to convey so many emotions-- both wonder as well as stubbornness; but this time calm. Occasionally he would have to let out a cough which he covered with his hand-- not precisely noticing the petal that disguised itself within his palm before it fell casually and wedged within the couch cushions where one would find a veritable sea of them hidden underneath.

He thought about getting up to go search Seregil out, though he thought perhaps the other man did not want to be disturbed. Tried not to think about if Seregil was at the Avenue of Lights, perhaps in the arms of his green eyed boy. No, best not to think about that, he'd only be setting himself up for a long train of thought that he was not prepared to board.

So he sat there, whiling away the moments.

Such a stubborn heart, and one that was far too good for Seregil, but he was too selfish a man to even think about turning it away. Take what the Lightbearer gives you. He'd given that advice, tried to live by it himself. And Alec, his Alec was the greatest thing that he had ever been given in his life. His friendship and somehow his love.

"You'll be my only lover too, Alec. There can only be you, now." It was soft and serious, a vow that he fully intended on keeping until he drew his last breath, if he were allowed to, though he wouldn't ever hold Alec back if he decided his happiness was with someone else. He just desperately hoped it wouldn't. And because it was such a vulnerable, serious statement, the next thing out of his mouth was a more flippant, "The Street of Lights' economy will take a blow, of course, but they'll recover."

He shut his eyes at the sweet kiss to his forehead. "So you're here for my own good, mm? I suppose I can admit that I do need that, from time to time." All the time.

Damn Alec and his ability to see straight to Seregil's heart, truly. The boy would be his undoing, and actually, maybe that was okay. More than okay. The feelings were new and they were terrifying yes, but they were also warm and wonderful and that was the problem. How did he handle having something so... good? Right?

A laugh at the talk about his, erm, interior decorating style which was adhd magpie chic if one was being generous with their classification. It was true though. For as precise a person as Seregil was in many aspects of his life, the space in the Cockerel, where he didn't have to play the part of anyone but himself, was a cluttered collection disaster.

His expression softened into a very pleased smile as Alec just went and moved himself right into the bedroom. "You're welcome to more than a corner, tali. I'll keep my clutter out of your spaces. I take it this means we can move your pallet from the main room, mm? If you'd be willing to make my bed our bed?"

Seregil's smile brightened because honestly, look at his Alec, that light in those sapphire eyes, the shyness at the edges of his expression. Ducking his chin, he nuzzled his lips against Alec's in a kiss that was all sweetness. "As you like. But I find I enjoy the ways you disrupt my life. They've much improved my... everything."

There was nothing in Seregil's life that wasn't warmer and sweeter because of Alec being in it -- even the fact that he now knew the feeling of his heart being ripped out of his body when he thought Alec was in danger of being hurt. But it was still worth it.

Laughter bubbled up at the threat about talking in his sleep and secrets. "Ah, so this is all a plan to ferret out information, mm? I'm so proud, tali. The student may have surpassed the master."

Oh Seregil was happy to play the part of any sort of cutlery as long as it involved Alec. Big spoon, little spoon. And he would very happily have his lover in his arms, head pillowed on his chest, where he could leaned down -- just like he was doing now -- and press a kiss through soft blond hair, eyes shut as he took the moment to commit every sensory detail of the moment to memory. The warmth of Alec against him, the sound of his breathing, the scent of him -- familiar and fresh and earthy but mixed with sweat and sex.

He settled his arm comfortably around Alec, fingers finding their way to run up and down along his side. Yes, he could get used to holding him, like this.

"Then stand with me, Alec. My partner, in every sense of the word."
