Nicholas Kirkland (Nicky to those who he considered friends) was at this moment finishing up the last of his reading for his college classes. In the little dorm-room that himself and Patrick shared, it was a muddle of books and random objects that they'd collected. Not only that but also bits and bobs of their friendship tied into neat little nostalgic notes.

The last rays of the sun was streaming in through the window and he was poised, feet crossed on desk and balancing barely on the back two legs-- precarious yes, and honestly he knew that he should not really be doing this. Coordination be damned, he'd never worried about it before despite the bumps and bruises he regularly got because he was perennially distracted.

It was almost time for Patrick to come home from his late evening classes and then they'd start their foraging for dinner.

After that, well the evening was still young and there was trouble to be had. All of which he looked forward to, after all Patrick had for as long as he remembered, been his favorite partner in crime.. they had grown up together and they had a special bond.

As close as brothers, except not quite-- and honestly? Nicholas was glad for that.

Note to self to buy Jella apology Churus later. For now though, Trick shifted enough to settle more on his side facing Nicky, one hand propping his head up, the other reaching out to tease over the curve of the other man's shoulder, down the curve of his spine.

"Yeah, I'm definitely the winner here."

Because yeah, look whose boyfriend he got to be. Patrick Leary was so in love he thought he might be lost in the landslide of it for the rest of eternity. His eyes traced down the same path his fingers had just taken and then back the way they'd come to find Nicky's gaze.

He heard himself murmur, "Beautiful..." before he realized he'd said it aloud. Well, why not say it out loud? He could now, after ages of biting his tongue so hard he was lucky to still have it.

"You think I am beautiful? Do I need to get you eyeglasses?" Nicky said with a chuckle that had no self-depreciating for it; by his standards he was sorta eh, tall and clumsy-- the eternal pragmatic one, but he did not even care that he was not conventionally handsome whatsoever; but he lacked an artistic eye for that thing. But nevertheless a smile fluttered over his lips. "I won't complain though, even though the hottest guy in the world is saying this to me."

Beauty was in the eye of the beholder but Patrick had always been a tall glass of water, and that slender and toned body? Those times in the locker room when Trick had come out of the shower clad in nothing but a towel? Yeowzers, okay yeah.

"Better stop being so cute or else I am going to do something like blow you."

"My eyesight is better than yours, asshole. Now stop being a brat and accept the fact that you're gorgeous and I've been keeping it to myself for years and it's gonna come out now whether you like it or not." Patrick huffed the heavy sigh of a man who had been saddled with the smartest man he'd ever met who was also capable of being a complete idiot.

Another laugh and he leaned in close to press a kiss to the back of Nicky's shoulder. "Also work on your threats, baby. Here I am quaking in my boots at the threat of a blowjob."

"That is not a threat, that is a promise." Nicky said, delighted at being called gorgeous even though he did not wholly believe it himself. It was a Kirkland man trait, just Nicky was less of a sad puppy about it then his Uncle was, it was practicalities when it come down to it but he would say no more and be thrilled at the fact that Patrick wanted him, had wanted him for years

"But we should set the timer." he said as he pulled his cellphone from where he kept it on the bedside table and then mentally decided to add a plus 15 minutes to it because that was around when he'd orgasmed. This was Nicholas Kirkland, long-term sciencer because he was a nerd of many talents who arguably got As all around, it was his gift. Perhaps the only subject he'd ever not gotten As in was Gym because no one was perfect and he was not good at coordination. But leave it to a professional where this was concerned. "So the thing with this experiment is we have to set the control first, and then afterwards we can play with it.. so.."

And he did not like this next part.

"We should shower separately because we want a frame of reference if we can for what happens if we do not touch each other, at least until something does trigger it." he was already digging in his bedside table for a notebook with which he could take copious notes. "What I will do is I will note down when I start getting 'urges'; I was emotional last night so that was not a good litmus test." oh god, he was writing down equations, Trick.

Trick watched the notebook scribbling, fondly, though he did wrinkle his nose at separately. But yeah fine, okay.

"Ugh. Science is such a buzzkill." A grumpy huff, but there was a smile playing over his lips as he watched the way that the nerd he adored was diving headlong into figuring this out with that eager logical passion that had caught Patrick's attention so many times before.

Though as he rolled onto his side and leaned in, he sighed. "So is math." Gross. But he pressed a kiss to the Nicky's shoulder once more anyway, because math or not, he was so fucking down bad for this nerd it was beyond explanation.

"Just that one for the road, okay?" And with that he very reluctantly moved to extricate himself from Nicky's bed.

Nicky had been about ready to open his mouth to explain why Science and Math were so great, but then that kiss against his shoulder stopped him in his tracks, perhaps it was incredulity that they were to this point-- that Trick just kissed him like a lover would; his expression immediately softened-- but after that came the launch of a pillow right at Trick's ass.

Sadly, it did not reach it's intended mark but rather against his shoulderblades which pretty decently far off the mark, and that caused Nicky to flop back against the bed rather dramatically.

"This is why you are the athlete, and not I."

Nicky would have to get used to the random bits of affection, because Trick had been teetering on the precipice of doing them for years now. Now that he was allowed to? He was totally off leash and would probably spend more time than he wanted to admit to fighting Jella for Nicky's lap. All those years he'd spent building goodwill with the cat would be for naught, but oh well.

Trick was a few steps from the bed when he got whapped with a pillow in the middle of his shoulder blades and turned to look at Nicky with a question formed by slowly raising eyebrows. Then he dissolved into a snicker.

"It's okay, Baby. I think nerds with zero coordination are incredibly sexy." And with that, he bent to sweep up the pillow and lob it right back at Nicky's face in one smooth motion. It was a flawless move really, perfect arc, high loft, satisfying PWAF of sound as it struck true. And Trick, naked and sticky and still cackling, dropped a flourish of a bow before trotting off to the shower.

Nicky was struck broadside by the pillow and in such a way that he never saw it coming, he barely had time to lift his arm up to block it before it came barreling down onto his face. A muffled grumble and then he rose back up, peeking over the pillow at the retreating form of a very pleasantly naked Trick.

Gods bless America indeed.

He bit the pillow and could not help the hint of interest from assaulting his senses. Not far of course, all Trick's fault. "That's it, Jock-- get in the shower where you belong.. I'll have my revenge when we have to algebra our way out of a burning building!"

Trick was feeling very smug right now, and not bothering to hide it, even as he looked back over his shoulder at Nicky. "Work on quadratic equationing yourself out of sex demon possession first. We can approach sexy firemath roleplay some other time."

With that, Trick disappeared into the bathroom and started the shower running. He was, quite literally, a very sticky mess, given that they'd fallen asleep tangled in each other and gone at it pretty much immediately upon waking up. He had no regrets, mind you, except that they hadn't been able to come to this realization with a demon involved, but that was a minor detail.

Trick was desperately, irrepressibly in love with Nicholas Kirkland, and somehow Nicky felt the same.

As steam started to rise to let him know the water had heated up, he adjusted the knob just slightly down, the water still skin-stinging hot as he stepped under it with a pleasured groan of appreciation.

His other hand slipped around the knob of the door, pondering whether to open it. He stilled at the sound of the voice from the door, glancing over his shoulder, pulling back the shower curtain to peek out. "Too late. It's all mine. I can't be stopped. What're you gonna do about it?"

Hand on doorknob and he turned it, thereby he peeked inside the door and into the steamy bathroom.

He did not have a very good view on Patrick but it was sufficient enough that he could tell that the other guy was peeking out from behind the shower curtain. "Oh yeah? So you really going to steal all the hot water? That is really your next choice in this choose your own adventure?" he was getting ready to run in like a gremlin; preparing himself to launch an attack which may or may not work in his favor.

Both time and history has suitably established that he leapt first and then asked questions later.

This could end badly, but it was a risk that he was quite willing to take.

"That's my next choice, and I stand by it. I'm sure your sciencing can keep you warm. All those numbers and variables." Trick could see Nicky though from where he was peeking through the curtain. He knew his dearest friend-turned-lover well enough to know when Nicky was about to be a gremlin and do something stupid -- which was most of the time, actually, if he were being honest with himself.

"Unless you're going to do something about it."

Trick leaned back to disappear behind the curtain once more but then very deliberately stuck one arm out to crook a finger at Nicky in invitation. Or a challenge. Maybe both.

The door slammed open, and then there stood Nicky in all of his lanky naked glory, and then he was.. well not precisely dashing but more like fast walking toward the shower curtain which he yanked open and then he grabbed at that arm and with the usage of Trick he was pulling himself right into the shower. Arm around waist and then side-stepped to just behind Trick.

It wasn't the smoothest move but he did not trip and that was all that mattered.

There was no lie in the fact that as kids, they were called "Trip" and "Trick" and that was because Nicky tripped near constantly. No soap to slip on, and he somehow managed to gather his footing without much of a kerfluffle.

"Infiltrated!" he said with muffled glee against a shoulder.

Oh god oh jesus Nicky was doing an active physical thing. Trick didn't have too much time to worry about it, because then Nicky was in the shower with him. His free arm wound around the other man in pure reflex, hand settling flat to the small of Nicky's back.

Well, okay. Look at that. Still on his feet.

Trick laughed as well, stepping back to draw Nicky under the spray of water with him fully. "You fiend. I guess my evil plan is thwarted."

Woe is Trick. He turned his head into Nicky's hair, shoulders still shaking in a laugh. "Thought we had to do this separately, baby. Change of plans?"

Nicky buried his face in Trick's shoulder now that they were both under subjection to the steady stream of hot water, it was not that he was embarrassed but he was attempting to be cute and charming. "It is not fair that you are so goddamn sexy, I was struck with the immediate urge to help you wash your back." because let's face it who needed one of those long handled loofahs now that you had a lover to wash your back for you?

"So the offer stands, do you want me to wash your back?" which of course may mean other things.

But really he needed to go back to zero and hearing Trick groaning in the echoing steam of the shower had not done that.

Nicky was knocking the cute and charming thing right out of the park. Trick was powerless against it. His arm tightened around Nicky's waist almost reflexively. "Oh? Well I can't turn down such a kind and generous offer."

Like he'd dream of turning down any excuse to have Nicky's hands on him, to have the other close. They'd untangled their feelings so recently that Trick's head was still spinning with it, even if his heart had settled into it all as if it had been waiting for this moment his entire life. Maybe longer.

A kiss was planted right against Trick's mouth and that kiss turned into a grin before he reached for the loofah. "Well then we are doing this, turn around, sexy." he said this, it felt strange and silly on his own tongue, maybe even a little bit cheesy but he figured that Trick should maybe expect this from him considering track records and all.

"I'll take care of you."

And he meant it, in all ways. Like he had always been protective in his own way of Trick, had always wanted his well-being, and perhaps the last life they had was him trying to do all in his power to protect Trick but to no avail? So yes, he was taking what he could get in this moment.

"We did get very dirty earlier."

Maybe a little cheesy, but oh Trick liked it, the way that playful tone and pet name sounded in his Nicky's voice. The next words though, those washed over him in a wave even warmer than the shower water, down tot eh core of him. Nicky had always been looking out for him, had always taken care of him.

He'd never really known what he did to deserve Nicholas Kirkland, but whatever it was, he was grateful for it down to his bones.

Trick turned around, back to Nicky, glancing over his shoulder. "Yeah, we really did. It was fun though."

If it didn't work on one's boyfriend then what was even the point.

A delicious thrill ran through him that he could say that and it would be true-- he was pretty sure that they were boyfriends, what with the confessions and all, though such a phrase had not been spoken between the two of them. Love had though, and well didn't people who were in love, wasn't the requirement to be in a relationship?

Nicky hadn't done this before so he did not know the in's and out's of it.

"Very fun, way better than in the movies." he said with a kiss against a shoulder before he started to scrub that back thoroughly with the washcloth, amazed at how good his boyfriend looked. For a nerd like him to pull someone like Trick, yeah that was the dream.. also out of some silly rom-com that Nicky secretly liked even though he would psycho-analyze it in true Nicholas Kirkland fashion.

Oh they were absolutely boyfriends. Trick would be unbearably obnoxious about introducing Nicky as his boyfriend to everyone they met. And probably to the people they already knew. Honestly Trick was already picking out venues in his head for their wedding, but he wouldn't admit to that out loud. He was a hopeless case of a man when it came to Nicky, but he didn't have to be obvious just how hopeless.

Trick laughed. "Yeah, movies have nothing on this." On the way those lips felt against his shoulder, and how good it felt to have Nicky here touching him. Another glance over his shoulder, like he couldn't stop looking at Nicky for more than a few seconds at a time.

"That feels really nice."
