I need to taste the blood
Go on, draw another line
We can cross this time."

[ Essek Thelyss: Shadowhand to the Dynasty.
One who reached further then the Luxon would allow, who would do absolutely anything for knowledge. Oh no, the man did not care for power, not really. He wanted to cast himself into the portal of knowing, he wanted to surrender himself to books and learning without having to deal with the mundanities of socio-politics that all of the Kryn engaged in. It was tedious and it filled him with sickness even as he plastered on an urbane smile for all and sundry to see.
Within the Dynasty, it was customary to take pets of the Empire; they were brought in across the border of Asarius, across the mountains and into the Dynasty. There were Dynasty born pets on the other side, both lost to the ravages of the other's civilization, generally never to be seen again.
Essek had never really had an interest to begin with when it came to pets; at the market he carefully avoided the slave blocks where those not of the Dynasty were paraded around. However, it had come to this-- it had come to his trading of the Beacon, and in return he recieved a Volstrucker to serve him. And yet, for all of that, Essek Thelyss had not thought he would receive a broken Volstrucker.
In fair trade, he and recieved a dossier on the man in question and had perused it with only a small semblance of annoyance while Trent Ikithon had assured him that a man like him could be rebuilt, the honeyed words of a silken snake which Essek recognized.
After all did not a predator recognize another predator? So now he held in his household a man whom had to be guarded carefully, though Essek was not cruel despite how he imagined Dynasty pets were treated, the cage that he had placed this Volstrucker named Bren within, well it was comfortable-- he'd seen pictures of Vergossen so he supposed it must be far better than that place. But he had not precisely interacted with him-- most of his unseen servants were given the walking of him, the care and maintenance of him.
Perhaps because he did not precisely know what to do with him, or what use he had for something broken. Though he arguably did not know what manner of broken the Volstrucker was, but after a week-- he decided perhaps it was time to summon him and see for himself; acertain what sort of work was cut out for him.
If this man was worth putting back together again.
So it was one evening, he had the Empire man summoned to his chambers. ]

Date: 2024-07-05 04:35 pm (UTC)[ Essek noticed the disobeying, except he had not given any command that he did not want to be touched, it was yet another way in which Bren seemed to be aware of the room in which he occupied; both mentally and physically. He allowed himself a little tsk underneath his breath, and then spoke out in Common, his voice raised slightly. ]
It's a shame when one has worse manners than an Empire Pet--
[ Then he leaned forward, slipping one hand underneath a shoulder while he applied the koi-liner to the very inner edge of Bren's eye and then precisely drew it out, though he already could see that he would have to apply some mascara to darken the ginger lashes out, he was close now-- so close to Bren, the space was like a razor's edge between them. ]
Be a Good Boy for me Bren, just like I know you can.
[ He crooned, his breath scenting of bermagot tea and lavender candies as it puffed against that cheek. ]

Date: 2024-07-06 03:45 am (UTC)He could feel that breath against his skin, smell the soft, comforting scent of the drow, all of him so quickly becoming comfort, becoming safety. Bren knew he did not deserve anything so generous as a home, after how he had destroyed his own, but this was at least beginning to feel like some sort of place he might belong, owned thing that he was, pet and plaything -- and if he were given the chance, defender. He hated the way Essek's entire demeanor had changed when Adeen appeared, hells, even when he had spoken about the man. His husband.
The sound of his name though, that had his breath catching. Essek hadn't called him by name before, and Bren hadn't even been certain if anyone had bothered to tell his master what he was called. It hardly mattered, really. He didn't deserve a name, didn't deserve the name his parents had given him. Their little spark. But hearing it still tugged at something in his chest.]

Date: 2024-07-06 03:56 am (UTC)First one eye, and then the other-- drawing the lines of the eyes rather deftly, making the most perfect of cat lines that would accentuate the blue that were really quite lovely at this proximity.
Once that was done, there was the sweep of his thumbpad against the gold of some pigment and then gently he swept it just over the lids of Bren's eyes, first one and then the other in a ritualistic manner meant to be comforting and soothing. Already he could tell that this gold would go well with the colouring of Bren's-- and at this distance away, when Bren opened his eyes, he would be able to tell that Essek's eyes were the same but in a silver hue.
Finally, he reached for the gloss, he swirled his index finger into the cream and then he settled in closer while he lightly pressed the tip and slid it first on the upper mouth, and then almost erotically to slide along the plush lower lip. ]
no subject
Date: 2024-07-06 04:10 am (UTC)The touch was comforting, and Bren found himself hoping there was reason for him to be made up regularly.
When that finger slid along his upper lip, his eyes fluttered open to watch, trying to calm the way his heart decided to kick up into a faster beat. It was an erotic touch, without a doubt, but it was the casual intimacy of it that tried to steal Bren's ability to breathe and to think straight.
Thankfully his cock was still quite dissuaded from stirring at the memory of Adeen's voice, so he was saved further embarrassment there. But instead he tilted his chin up and pressed a soft, fleeting kiss pressed against that fingertip, a small, sweet act of devotion, an unspoken, silent vesper.]
no subject
Date: 2024-07-06 04:16 am (UTC)It was the touch of mouth against his fingertip that did it; he paused though he kept his fingertip there; and for a moment Bren could see that an entire range of emotions crossed over it, confusion, tenderness and perhaps even a shadow of indignance from a man who was set to be this man's Owner. And all of those caused his brain to short circuit only a little bit, so much that it took another half a second for him to start breathing again. ] Ah, I think that you are almost.. an.. done--
[ He brought himself back up, perhaps a bit shakily as the intimacy managed to coax a response out of him that was far different from any other response that had existed. It was the gentleness encased in cerulean blue eyes, it was such devotion.
It was no wonder that there were some pet owners that became overly fond. ] A few more minutes and Adeen will be banging on the door again, the swine.
no subject
Date: 2024-07-06 05:01 am (UTC)Then Essek was moving away, and breaking the spell of the moment, at least for the time being.
A little nod, and he sat up slowly. Almost done? He tilted his head curiously, wondering what was left. He perched at the edge of Essek's bed for a moment, watching the drow and waiting to be told what Essek wanted of him. ...that didn't stop him from wrinkling his nose at the mention of Adeen. Bren had never laid eyes on Essek's husband, but he already hated the man.]
no subject
Date: 2024-07-06 12:28 pm (UTC)And there was his Empire Pet providing some sort of basic need that probably he should not be, that was unlooked for-- and then there was Adeen, he could hear him cooling his heels in front of the door like some yokel from Jigow. ]
Comb, I need a comb. [ The sound of him rummaging around in the drawers of his vanitybbecame an entire ordeal, the thing was that he very rarely needed a comb for obvious reasons having to do with prestidigitate.. wait.
This Pet had him flustered, he closed the door and came back to Bren with purpose. ] Magic will do...
[ the cool scent of snow and jasmine as Essek used his cantrip to straighten out those locks of hair, around the back where he'd laid down on it and then also around the edges so that they formed a fall over the temple-- trying not to percieve how attractive his Pet was, how he was radiating something infinitely craveable. ]
Perhaps, you will learn how I present you and you will be able to do these tasks on your own, if and until you do then I will assist, yes.
no subject
Date: 2024-07-06 09:38 pm (UTC)He was startled from his mental wonderings at how vile this Adeen must truly be by the touch of magic, the sorting of his hair. ...prestidigitation was another cantrip he'd never bothered to learn. Why exactly was an excellent question, really.
A nod in agreement, though if Bren were being honest with himself he enjoyed the attention a little too much and would have very little motivation to actually learn how to sort his own makeup and hair. But he would try, since that was what his master wished, and he wanted Essek's approval even more than he wanted the attention. Better that he could be a good boy for him.
Especially when he knew he was not good, not deserving by nature. That guilt still itched at the back of his brain, the knowledge that he deserved to be punished, not pampered.]
no subject
Date: 2024-07-06 11:04 pm (UTC)I think that you are good right now.
[ Essek said this with an indulgent smile before he turned to pick up the leash that he had folded up on the little trunk at the foot of the bed, right near Bren's cot, and then he leaned over to very quickly clip it into the o-ring there. ]
Shall we go then? Face Adeen and his own Pet? [ He did not want to, honestly-- but it was a requirement and there was no getting out of it. ]
no subject
Date: 2024-07-07 01:47 am (UTC)He ducked his head in acknowledgment at the question. Time to go. He glanced briefly in the direction of his notebook, because he had things to say about Adeen, but those could wait for now. There was not time to discuss. They had to be going.
Admittedly, he was curious about the other man's pet at least somewhat. He'd seen other pets during their outing this morning, and their treatment certainly seemed to vary significantly, especially when he considered his own thus far.]
no subject
Date: 2024-07-07 01:59 am (UTC)Beside him a blond woman with dark green eyes, hair caught up in high ponytail and wearing a collar in much the same fashion. Her own clothing though was not as fine as Bren's was, it was a simple diaphanous tunic in lavender, with non-ornamented belted accessories; by age-- she looked to be around in her mid-thirties.
She was also crouching. ]
~lil' frigid Quarval-sharess morfethe ukt entrance--~
frigid zhah fridj jalbyr xan'ss whol naut wanting ulu inbal intercourse xuil dos?
[ And so it began, poor Bren would have to hear this in the carriage ride. ]
no subject
Date: 2024-07-07 02:39 am (UTC)He didn't. Not once the sniping started back and forth between the two of them. There was already something protective simmering in Bren for his master. His gaze strayed to the other pet, though his expression a great deal more curious than disapproving in her instance.
Tucking himself close just behind and to the side of Essek, he waited for his master to lead him to where they were headed.]
no subject
Date: 2024-07-07 03:41 pm (UTC)Thankfully it was not directed at Bren, no-- he was well out of the line of chill touch, but there was Adeen's scrutinous gaze to content with, and Tesleen's shy but meek expression, nodding to Bren but nothing more than that.. likely fear of displeasing her Master. ]
~Uk zhah mzilt ichl impudent, dos zhal'la inbal ukta harl'il'cik~
[ And then Essek's own carefully neutral reply as he started with Bren down the steps, a directive tug with the leash and harness ] Zil verve zil usstan shlu'ta float, uk zhah ula vel'klar uk zhah--
[ a pitched remark at Adeen left in the wake, this time in common ] You really must be a coward to believe height has anything to do with the ability to wield power. [ a sideways glance at Bren before he lead the both of them out to the carriage, a ensemble in silver and purples, with lanterns that glowed with green luminescent fire. ]
Help me into the Carriage, Pet-- [ a well modulated demand that he knew that the other man would fufill with flying colours, his hand offered to the other. At the very least as one born into Den Thelyss, he was prioritized thus would naturally enter rooms, carriages and venues first. ]
no subject
Date: 2024-07-07 10:24 pm (UTC)Adeen did not matter, except that he was very clearly a thorn in his master's side.
Bren did not hesitate to take the drow's hand, to help him climb into the carriage, dutiful as ever. He wondered though how Essek had found himself married to that churl of a man, as it certainly seemed as it was not something that he was at all pleased about. There must be reasons, of course. If Bren had come to understand one thing, it was that his master did not act without reason. Once Essek was settled, Bren would wait to be beckoned inside to join him.]
no subject
Date: 2024-07-07 10:31 pm (UTC)[ Essek had settled himself against the purple squabs of the seat and then motioned for Bren to come up to join him. There was Adeen bearing down, but he would have Bren come into the carriage first and foremost; before Adeen could push the other man aside (which from the looks of it, he was about ready to do some shoving if he reached the steps in time.
Any chance to humiliate Adeen-- this was not a marriage he had wanted but he certainly was not going to make it comfortable by any stretch of the imagination. ] Your place is at my side, curled up.
no subject
Date: 2024-07-07 10:44 pm (UTC)With Bren rather brazenly resting his head against Essek's thigh.
Bren had never really been the territorial type, while not meek before he'd been shattered, was never particularly aggressive, always more thoughtful and circumspect. For this though, he would make an exception.]
no subject
Date: 2024-07-07 11:31 pm (UTC)~You'll spoil that filthy Empire Mutt..~
I do not think that is any of your business how I attend to my Pet, I do not make calls on your Pet aside from making sure that she does not enter any of my public domains, and I think that is perfectly reasonable.
[ By Essek's way of thinking, he could do anything he wanted to his pet right here and right now and Adeen could not do anything about it.
And yes, Essek's hand still continued to stroke. ]
no subject
Date: 2024-07-08 12:41 am (UTC)It was enough for him to focus on that he'd nearly forgotten his anxiety over the event that they were headed to. Bren had never been the extroverted type (though when he'd still had a voice, he could talk for hours with the right sort of company, about magic or books or history or cats) and he was still very much a fish out of water, uncertain of his new role, in a strange country. Essek was there, of course, so it would be fine.
Wouldn't it? All he had to do was obey, was to be the good, submissive, subservient pet that his master wished him to be.]
no subject
Date: 2024-07-08 12:52 am (UTC)Finally they came to Den Mirrim, where the event was supposed to be held; the Mirrims being a Den with excessive military powers. Once there, the door was opened by footmen and Essek was handed down, his fingers lightly on the leash so that Bren would follow after him. From there it would be a whirlwind of faces and people.
Immediately Essek, and by extension Bren, was swept up in the social whirl. However, it was very civilized-- there was a crowd but there was nothing chaotic about it. People waited their turn to talk to someone, ten minutes or so were precisely spent networking before there was a move on. The two and four hour point was when refreshments were taken, and Essek made a casual circle.
There was dancing, but it was Dynasty dancing-- a series of movements and with very little in terms of touching; no waltzes nor kitchen dances here in the glittering ballroom, which probably did help to seperate the past from the present. Neither of which Essek was inclined to participate in, and no one asked him to dance, as it was-- he'd already made his disinclination known.
Essek did see to getting Bren the refreshment when it was time, food when it was appropriate, and he monitored Bren's expressions ever so often so that if he needed to go and relieve himself, Essek would take him to the nearest washroom. ]
no subject
Date: 2024-07-09 01:49 am (UTC)He noticed of course that Essek certainly drew a great deal of attention and interest, but given what he knew of Shadowhand Thelyss, that wasn't surprising.
The dancing was interesting, but weirdly clinical and cold. It had him momentarily nostalgic for brighter days. But those days were gone and dead, and he had no right to even miss them. He'd forfeited any right to that life, to any life really. There was a lingering anxiety in the broken Volstrucker, but he did his best not to show it, eating what he was given.
What Bren did not notice was the attention paid to him, to the strange new copper-haired man who trailed Essek Thelyss, who did not crawl or seem inclined to pay attention or defer to anyone save for the man holding his leash. He was a new presence though, and vaguely exotic for the freckled skin and ginger hair -- and quite well appointed given the way Essek had styled him for the outing. But Bren was utterly oblivious on this point.
What he did know was that he would not be disappointed when it was time to go.]
no subject
Date: 2024-07-09 01:56 am (UTC)Five hours of endless people approaching him, asking him about his views on certain initiatives posed by the Bright Queen, opinions on Society Leaders, attempting to get a leg up with him.. it was tedious and it took it's toll on him. So much that once it was acceptable to do so, he made his way back to the Head of Den Mirrim to thank them for the invitation, and then he went to the foyer with his pet in tow, having the carriage called around.
As they were waiting there at the steps for it to be brought, he explained. ] Adeen will stay here for perhaps another three hours, but it's only truly necessary that we arrive together.. not that we leave at the same time; gods I want privacy.
[ There was a sigh that came from his lips as he glanced over at Bren who stood there with him. ] You did well, remember that as my Pet you are still far more exalted than most of the people in that room, baring Den Kryn and Den Mirrim.
[ An aside, because even Essek could be catty ] Adeen married into the Den, he hardly counts.
no subject
Date: 2024-07-09 02:26 am (UTC)So he was relieved when Essek made his goodbyes and led him to the foyer.
He turned to listen as Essek spoke, nodding his agreement. Good. No Adeen for the carriage ride back made it a much more enjoyable prospect already. At the little jab against his master's husband, he did not bother to hide the flicker of a smile at that. Adeen clearly did not deserve to count. That was obvious after having met him once.
If he'd had his voice, perhaps he would have said something, but as it was, he only stepped in slightly closer to Essek, not touching, but close. So close.
As the carriage appeared, he looked up, ready to help his master into the coach once more, and certainly not looking forward to the small excuse to touch him. Nope. Certainly not him.]
no subject
Date: 2024-07-09 02:29 am (UTC)[ For right now, he was trusting Bren to do all the work, giving the Pet a chance to do valid and authentic service for him; another chance to gain favor.. to please him. ]
You handled yourself well, I am proud.
no subject
Date: 2024-07-09 02:59 am (UTC)He opened the door and offered his hand out to his master to assist him into the carriage. That small piece that he could to do serve him, to please him, it did spark something in Bren, that need for the other man's approval.
A smile found his face at the words, a flush of warmth through his chest that was mirrored in the faint blush that rose in his cheeks. Essek was proud. Of him.]
no subject
Date: 2024-07-09 03:08 am (UTC)There was that tell-tale pat of the seat next to him. After all, of all the room in the carriage, it appeared that Essek still wanted Bren beside him on the seat; as if that was his place and there was little inclination for them to deviate from it. ]
Home..
[ He commanded, once Bren was curled up in his place. The carriage would then set it's way through the streets.. the comforting sway and clop clop of the horse feet against cobblestones.
Essek's hand naturally gravitated toward the top of his Pet's head, to lightly stroke against hair in a calming manner. ]
